Challenge: Day 2

Challenge: Day 2

I must admit at first I was putting off my to do list until the following day but then realized in this time of my life I need to just let things go. Please note that if you haven’t read Day 1 yet, please do before reading this one!

Today’s challenge for me was to brainstorm my gifts.

I set the timer like the email said and started. At first it was very hard, I mean I know I am good at some things but I tend to be my worst enemy with critiquing how I did something and how it could be done better.

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: A book review

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: A book review

I have been keeping a surprise from you all for a bit! One I am very excited about. A while back, I was one of a few people selected to do a book review for someone that I admire very much. This is what I have to say about it:

Aren’t we all exhausted and can barely keep up with life? Well my friend Crystal Paine, who is a professional blogger, wrote an excellent book. Well she actually has written a few but this one is not even out yet.

Medical Mom is off for the week

Medical Mom is off for the week

Get this, Medical Mom herself got sick. So, she is going to take off for the rest of the week as she gets better. I’m not sure where we got it from, but a stomach bug ripped through our house like wildfire. So far, 3 out of the 5 of us have gotten it. Even the dog was puking. Kinda strange, but I guess it could happen, right? I don’t know, I’m not the medical pro in the family.

So, we will discuss how our Christmas went, from my point of view. 😉

What the RSV Virus is, and how to prevent it

What the RSV Virus is, and how to prevent it

I am a pediatric nurse outside the home. I LOVE my job because I get to help kids get better and go home. I have decided to share some basic medical information about some of the common health conditions dealing with kids. This information is in no way a replacement for calling you primary medical doctor or pediatrician, so if you have any concerns, please be sure to call them right away.

Medical Mom Monday is here

Medical Mom Monday is here

I am told that you should always write about things you are passionate about on your blog. I LOVE my job. I work as a pediatric nurse case manager now, and have never had a job since I graduated nursing school where I had to work with adults.

Speaking of school, just so you know, I am a licensed RN. I graduated from Misericordia University (back when it was still a college) with my BSN. I currently work at one of the best pediatric hospitals the country has to offer. Anyway, let’s get back to the good stuff.

Hello from the Hubby, a word about our silly kids

Hello from the Hubby, a word about our silly kids

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Josh, but I also go by lots of other names. I am currently a work at home dad, in the process of starting up a new web based company. But, that isn’t what I’m going to be talking about here. Instead, let me share some of the funnier side of my family. I do spend the entire day with my kids, after all.

A Christmas countdown craft that your kids will love every day

A Christmas countdown craft that your kids will love every day

Every day since the week of Thanksgiving, the girls have been asking how long until Christmas. I was ok with it for the first three times in one day but after that, I realized I was getting short with them. I had to come up with an idea for them that wouldn’t involve asking mom or dad.

Gillem family weekly wrap up

Gillem family weekly wrap up

I can’t believe it is already December and Christmas Eve is in just over three weeks. Thanksgiving was great and we feasted on our 20 pound turkey and all the fixings and desserts of course! Surprisingly Squeaker who never eats veggies loved the honey glazed carrots! Woohoo, win for mom!

We then kicked the weekend off with the town tree lighting and Bananas sang with the girl scouts and we all froze! It was nice though, the town handed out free hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookies. Santa then arrived on a fire truck. The kids waved and we headed home to a nice warm house.

The weekend was filled with me working outside the home on Saturday and Devil dog manning the house with the kids! Everyone was exhausted and come Sunday I needed to take myself to the doctor, which it is NEVER ok for moms to get sick. Someone needs to keep the house in order! Getting out the door to church was a fiasco and took way longer than usual as I wasn’t on top of my game like usual. I was diagnosed with a bad ear infection, and was given doctor’s orders to rest!

How was your thanksgiving? How was your weekend?

Weekly wrap up at the Gillems

Can you believe Thanksgiving is already this week!  This past week was filled with some not so great fun. All three kids were sick and two required doctor visits.  Squeakers had a weird rash on her face and belly, but it turned out to be nothing. Tank has a double ear infection, but as you can see, he didn’t look too miserable in the waiting room at the doc (but you can see his rosy cheeks).

This past weekend we went shopping at the outlets and got him his first pair of shoes!  He hates them but will adjust in time! That night we came home to eat some comfort food– chicken pot pie. I had the blessing of cooking a meal for one of our church members and bringing it over.  I brought potato soup with cheddar and bacon toppings with a bag of frozen veg (in case they had a ton of salad they can freeze it for whenever)

What did your week look like? Did you do anything fun and exciting?
